Library Services

  1. LIBRARY ORIENTATION and RE-ORIENTATION

                Library Orientation is conducted to all students during the first semester of the academic year organized by Student Republic. An orientation is also given to first year students in their English classes scheduled by their professors on topics related to the use of the different tools of research in the library. It also includes library tour.

  1. NEW BOOK DISPLAY

                New acquisitions are displayed after they are processed and are ready for the users.

  1. ACQUISITIONS

                The library prepares an acquisitions list after the materials are acquired and processed. It is posted in the library’s bulletin board. The Head of Instruction of the college is also furnished a copy of the acquisition list.

  1. INFORMATION SERVICE

                Bulletin board display is one of the library devices to attract students to come to the library and read. The display shows the newly acquired titles, library activities and quotable quotes which serve as reminder/s guide/s to library customer.

  1. ORGANIZATION OF VERTICAL/INFORMATIONAL FILES

                A collection of pamphlets and newspaper clippings related to curricular offerings of the university as well as recreational needs of the library clienteles are maintained. The materials are placed in the molar filer. Users are allowed to scan the molar files to find their desired topics.

  1. CIRCULATION OR LOAN SERVICE

                This service includes the dissemination of materials. The function of which is to facilitate physical access to library materials and to encourage the maximum use of the library. The service covered the circulation work, which includes books in the stack area, reserve books and leisure reading book collection. It also includes the lending and returning of library materials by the customers.

  1. RESERVE BOOK SERVICE

                Reserve book services are library books assigned by the faculty as required reading materials for their classes. They are made available on a restricted basis to make sure that all library customers will have their fair chance of utilizing these materials. At the end of every semester/summer term books placed on reserve section are returned to their original location. A faculty can also place his/her book on temporary reserve for use by their students in the subject/s taught.

  1. REFERENCE AND INFORMATION SERVICE 

                Professional assistance is extended to users who need assistance in using the library resources and services. This is handled by a librarian who includes answering queries/ questions, on the use of the different reference sources, assistance in selection of materials and giving directions on the location of materials in the library.

  1. VALIDATION AND ISSUANCE OF LIBRARY CARDS

                Library cards of all students enrolled for the term or summer are validated and issued to them upon presentation of their Registration Form. It serves as an entry and circulation requirement in availing the services of library.

  1. REFERRAL SERVICE

                Faculty/employee and students who wish to do their research in other libraries to supplement their readings or references  are issued a   letter of request to research in other libraries where she/he wants to visit  subject to the rules and regulations of the said library. It is used by a librarian upon request of clients.

  1. SERVICE TO OUTSIDE RESEARCHERS

                Researchers from other institutions are allowed to use the library resources upon presentation of their validated library ID and referral letter issued by the librarian of their institution. Their use of the library is subject to the rules and regulations of ISAT U library. First visit is for free; however, the second visit of the same researcher/s will be charged a fee (as provided for in the MOA).

 Researchers from institutions who are not a member of the inter-library consortium are charged a fee of PhP20.00 / hr. as provided in BOT Resolution, dated May 21, 2004.              .

                Students from other campuses of the ISAT U can make use of the library resources and services upon presentation of their validated library card. However, resources are for library use only.

  1. TECHNICAL SERVICES

                This service includes the organization of all materials in the library. It includes the classification and cataloging of all acquisitions of the library- print and non-print and it maintains the library’s records such as: accession record, shelf list, list of processed books, inventory record, and list of classified books by subject areas, and subscriptions and list of new acquisitions for the year. It facilitates encoding, barcoding, updating of the library’s catalog and printing of catalog cards.

  1. PHOTOCOPYING SERVICE

                The copying service enables the patron to duplicate pages of the library materials that they need for their research work. This is sourced outside.

  1. AUDIOVISUAL SERVICES

                This service includes the use of the listening and viewing room for film viewing, meetings, power point presentations, etc.

                To avail of this service, a request form is available at the library.

To provide relevant and updated informational, curricular and recreational reading resources to the academic community.

To provide fast access and delivery of information support to instruction, research and extension services.

To continuously meet the information needs of ISAT U academic community through selection and acquisition of updated and relevant print and non-print materials such as books, current journals, software and online resources.

To improve and upgrade library facilities.

To regularly evaluate the effectiveness of library programs and policies.

To provide services to external clients.
